Worth Noting:

  • Political leaders who hold high stakes as national Opinion leaders are also in slumber, they are only focused about 2022 general elections yet they are the people to pass the information to the lowest cadre like villages and in turn convince those people that these vaccines have minimal advanced side effects.
  • As much as these vaccines are free of charge the ministry of health needs to look for solutions on how they will administer these vaccines to various individuals. If possible, the opinion leaders and influential personalities like leaders in saccos popularly called chamas, teachers and other groups that have a one-on-one encounter with the Wanjiku can be considered great assets in the information reaching to a diversified grouping of people of the society.

As the government receives another stock of AstraZeneca vaccines to curb the COVID-19 pandemic, myths and misconceptions about the COVID-19 vaccine has been spreading in the social media platform, leading many people to fear being vaccinated

Very few Kenyans as per now volunteer to receive the vaccines even though they are in variety and in a mentionable availability. Generally, the government in line with the ministry of health strategies of ensuring countrywide vaccination has played a role in this by simply reporting on the number of people who have been affected, died and those who are receiving home-based care. The gap left by the ministry is in giving account on who has received the vaccine? Which experience they went through and if any at which intensity. By and large, there is need to demystify the ill impression created on the vaccines.

The  media has  also played a role in the dismal numbers of the people receiving this vaccines, the main aim of the journalists is to pass information but on contrary most of the media houses have  assumed each and every person uses either radio, television social media, and also newspapers for the sake of getting news forgetting that they need to do more soliciting of Citizens using advanced activities like coming up with programs that will run on publicity terms to their estimed audiences in interest of building a positive view on the vaccines.

Political leaders who hold high stakes as national Opinion leaders are also in slumber, they are only focused about 2022 general elections yet they are the people to pass the information to the lowest cadre like villages and in turn convince those people that these vaccines have minimal advanced side effects.

On the other hand, most of these leaders have been vaccinated and they assume that each and every person will be vaccinated without their prior opinion.

As much as these vaccines are free of charge the ministry of health needs to look for solutions on how they will administer these vaccines to various individuals. If possible, the opinion leaders and influential personalities like leaders in saccos popularly called chamas, teachers and other groups that have a one-on-one encounter with the Wanjiku can be considered great assets in the information reaching to a diversified grouping of people of the society.

Media industry should come up with various ways of passing information about this vaccine, for instance it should not dwell on news alone. It should also use people preferences, for example most of the youths’ love entertainment, the media should come up with entertainment programmes about these vaccines how important they are, and also convince people on how these vaccines have no side effect as most of the people perceives especially the social media. If this people prefer media because of stocking celebrities, the media can use various celebrities to pass awareness and information about these vaccines.

The government also should foster the best way of passing the correct information about this vaccine
