Use insecurities to improve yourself

By: N. George

Worth Noting:

  • It is human nature to feel bad when our egos are deflated, we all need to be shown due respect at all times. Wisdom dictates that much as we may feel discontented with whatever have been done to us, we should judge every case according to context.
  • A video that I once watched showed an old grandmother near a rail line, a young baby who has not learnt to walk sitting on a rail line and a train fast approaching towards the direction of the kid then the grandmother unable to bend and pick the kid ran towards the kid and kicked him away from the rail line directing him to the side thus saving him from being crushed by the train.
  • A poor judge may see as if the old lady is harsh to the kid but the way she behaves is the best option in such a situation requiring urgent action.

You often do not know your friends as well as you imagine. Friends often agree on things in order to avoid an argument. They cover up their unpleasant qualities so as to not offend each other. They laugh extra hard at each other’s jokes. Since honesty rarely strengthens friendship, you may never know how a friend truly feels. Friends will say that they love your poetry, adore your music, envy your taste in clothes—maybe they mean it, often they do not………………… Robert Greene

When covid-19 broke out in 2019 and number of cases increased in 2020 it was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Due to its contagious nature the international boundaries were closed as governments tried to curb its spread. People were asked to put masks covering their mouths and noses. These efforts have helped by far to control the spread.

One of the easily noticeable issues is that if one wears a cap then a mask it becomes difficult to identify him or her more so if that person does not wear same type clothes regularly.

The same happens to other people who put on a fake face or show fake signs in life. A couple whose home is characterized by daily fights but neither of the party involved yells or reports anything makes it hard for you to suspect that all is not going on well in their family.

A colleague who does not agree with your arguments but never says so only nods as you talk to him as if he is in agreement with you may give you hard time in identifying that he really hates what you say only that you could suspect he does not understand you fully that is why he is not asking questions.

A local benga musician narrated in his song that many ladies admire him and follow his band wherever he is invited to entertain the guests. They dance at the beats of his songs and when he takes a rest after leaving the stage, they go near him salute him and wish him God’s blessings. In his heart he knows that they have fallen in love with him but since he is married, he cannot make marriage proposal to them or accept their marriage proposal but he want to appreciate them as loyal fans of his music. This story shows how strong friendship is and how we can ignore some signs in order to maintain healthy relationships and relationship boundaries.

If your parent is doing what is wrong publicly to others and also to you, it is not advisable to caution him publicly as this would amount to ashaming him or her instead you should behave as if you have not heard or seen that wrong that they have committed to you openly only to look for some wise and respectful methods to address your grievances. The nature of your relationship would make you put a fake mask in public.

A poor judge may see as if the old lady is harsh to the kid but the way she behaves is the best option in such a situation requiring urgent action. This story shows that not all the time love requires friendly actions at times some harshness is a sign of true friendship but many grownups do not want anything bitter in their friendships that is why fakeness is practiced in relationships to avoid hurting any party involved.

You need to cultivate the culture of loving your critics provided what they state as basis of their criticism is reasonable. Much as it is a bitter experience when publicly challenged by someone if there is a convincing reason, we should respect it then take the necessary measures to improve ourselves.

The bitter critic helps you to shape up. Through listening to critics, you are able to know which areas you are weak in and take corrective actions. Those who are wise see these critics as friends who disguise as enemies.

No human being is perfect failure to be challenged and always being cheered is a sign of insincerity. Try to think of those who you trust if at no one time they rectified or challenged you then it is good that you reevaluate your relationship to see how genuine it is.
